About The Sauna Insider

The Sauna Insider is an independent resource for people shopping for a home or outdoor sauna. Buying a sauna is a big, confusing purchase — the market is full of unfamiliar brands, competing heat technologies, and prices that swing by thousands of dollars for what looks like the same box. We exist to cut through that. We research the market, compare models on the things that actually matter, test hands-on where we can, and explain our picks in plain English so you can buy once and buy right.

What we cover

We focus on saunas for the home, in every format a normal buyer might consider:

Alongside the product rankings, our Learn library answers the practical and health questions that come up before and after you buy — from how hot a sauna should be to infrared versus traditional heat and how often it's sensible to use one.

How we stay independent

Some links on this site are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy through them — at no extra cost to you. That funding keeps the site running, but it never changes our rankings or verdicts. The order of our picks is decided on the merits before any commercial consideration, and a higher commission has never bought a higher placement. Where we have personally tested a product we say so; where we are working from manufacturer specifications and aggregated owner feedback, we say that too, and never imply first-hand experience we don't have. You can read the full details in our affiliate disclosure.

How we test

Our methodology — the criteria we score, how we weight them, and how we handle products we haven't personally used — is documented in full on our testing methodology page. In short: we judge every sauna on heat quality, EMF (for infrared), build quality, real usable capacity, value for its price tier, and setup, then rank on the balance of those rather than on any single headline number.

Our editorial standards

Who writes this

The Sauna Insider Team — Reviews & research. We research, compare and hands-on test home saunas so you can buy with confidence. We disclose what we have personally tested and never let commissions shape a verdict.

A note on health and safety

Sauna use is safe and enjoyable for most healthy adults, but it isn't right for everyone. Heat raises your heart rate and core temperature, so if you are pregnant, have a heart condition, unstable blood pressure, or any chronic medical condition, talk to your doctor before starting. Nothing on this site is a substitute for professional medical advice.
